Kelana Wooden Duck: Handcrafted combination of bamboo root and Suar wood, red, approx. 45 cm
The Kelana Wooden Duck in the large version is much more than an ordinary decorative piece – it tells a story of Balinese craftsmanship and individuality. Carved from reddish stained Suar wood and featuring a body made of untreated bamboo root, it combines elegance with playful lightness. The natural grain of the wood is highlighted by the stain, giving the duck depth, while the distinctive legs and lively expression lend each figure its own character. A unique work of art that adds a special atmosphere to your living space or delights as a gift for special occasions.
The Meaning of the Name "Kelana"
The name Kelana comes from Balinese and means "the wanderer" or "traveler". This name perfectly fits the upright posture and curious expression of the duck. Symbolically, the duck in Balinese culture represents the connection between man and nature, water and earth – a sign of harmony and change. The Kelana Wooden Duck brings this playful lightness into modern living spaces.
A Fusion of Tradition and Character in Red and Natural Root Look
Suar wood is a preferred material in Balinese carving: robust, with vibrant grain and easy to work with. For the Kelana Wooden Duck, the Suar wood is stained red, emphasizing the shape without obscuring the natural structure. The body made of untreated bamboo root creates an exciting contrast with its wild, organic structure reminiscent of a feathered coat. Through careful craftsmanship, an individual unique piece with a lot of personality is created.

Dealer Note
Serayu Craft is a special address: Two neighboring shops, differing in style and offerings, are located directly opposite the duck center, where numerous ducks are crafted daily.
The first shop is run by a rather reserved owner and offers a wide selection of wooden figures, including monkeys, hippos, cobras, turtles, ducks, and Buddhas.
The second shop impresses with a warm and friendly owner who does not speak English but has a good sense of fair prices. Here you will find extraordinary glass tables with elephant or octopus legs. However, please note that the shop is often closed during lunchtime.
Handcrafted Quality
Each Kelana Wooden Duck is created with careful craftsmanship. The combination of Suar wood and bamboo root results in natural differences in color, structure, and posture – a true sign of authentic Balinese craftsmanship.
