Sari Nightstand Lamp in White – Natural Elegance from Banana Leaves
The Sari Nightstand Lamp is a loving tribute to the nature of Bali. Its name "Sari" means essence or flower in Indonesian – a fitting expression for its floral shape and natural material.
The artistically shaped banana leaves resemble delicate petals that wrap around a softly glowing globe. This is created through a traditional process: a balloon is wrapped with fine threads and glue until a stable and transparent structure is formed. After drying, the balloon is removed, leaving a light, almost floating lighting element.
A simple base made of untreated wood ensures secure support, complemented by a rustic sisal binding at the transition. Thus, the lamp becomes a stylish eye-catcher on the nightstand, sideboard, or as an atmospheric light object in the living room.
Important: The lamp is delivered without electrical components, allowing you to customize it with a suitable light source – ideal for creative design ideas.
Background on the Material – Banana Leaves in Bali
In Bali, bananas are more than just food – they symbolically represent fertility and life. The leaves are used in everyday life and ceremonies: from temple rituals to packaging and artistic decorations. Banana leaves are an integral part of Balinese culture.
In handicrafts, the robust leaves are dried, burned, and shaped into durable forms. Their natural shine, fine grain, and flexibility make them the perfect material for lampshades, wall decorations, and baskets. Each piece tells of craftsmanship and a deep appreciation of nature and its resources.

Terang Karya
When we visit the small workshop on the outskirts of Ubud, we are always warmly welcomed by Nyoman and his wife Ketut – true masters of their craft. With great patience and skill, they transform banana leaves into extraordinary lights.
“Look closely,” Nyoman often says with a mischievous smile, showing how each leaf is carefully selected, dried, and shaped. No piece is alike – each banana leaf tells its own story through its unique surface.
The small family business may seem modest, but with passion and skill, they create true works of art. When the evening sun's light fills the open workshop and blends with the warm glow of their lamps, we enjoy sitting together over tea. Our time in Bali becomes all the brighter – not only through the light of their creations but also through the encounter with these wonderful people.
Note on Handcrafting
Each Sari Nightstand Lamp is handcrafted. Small differences in shape and color contribute to the natural charm of each individual piece.
