Its name is inspired by the Lontar Palm, which plays a culturally significant role in Bali and symbolizes a connection to nature and durability. With a height of about 70 cm and a detailed design in dark brown, this lamp is not only a source of light but also an artistic decorative object that reflects traditional craftsmanship. Lontara – The Heart of the Palm as a Light Source
The Lontar Palm is deeply embedded in the culture and daily life of Bali. It symbolizes tropical life and stability and provides valuable materials for crafts and traditional writings. Our Lontara Palm Lamp draws on this tradition: the trunk and leaves are made from natural raw materials and are in a rich dark brown that resembles bark and earth.
At the center of the lamp crown is the cream-colored light bulb, which is created through a special process: a balloon is wrapped with fine threads and natural glue until a stable, light-transmitting shape is formed. After drying, the balloon is removed, leaving a feather-light, almost floating element that spreads warm, inviting light. With the Lontara, you bring a piece of Balinese tranquility and atmosphere into your spaces.

- Material: Natural materials (palm leaf fibers and wood for trunk and leaves), wooden base, light body made of thread.

- Delivery Contents: Lamp without electrical components – light bulb, socket, and cable must be added separately. A thread for pulling the cable is integrated inside the trunk.

- Each Lontara Palm Lamp is a handcrafted unique piece. Small variations in shape, color, and material thickness are possible and give each piece its own character.
- The lamp is intended for indoor use. Please protect it from direct sunlight and high humidity.
- Electrical Installation: The lamp is deliberately delivered without electrical components so that you can choose cables, switches, and light bulbs according to your preferences. The integrated thread makes it easier to pull in a standard lamp cable. Installation should be done professionally.
Behind the Scenes – Terang Karya
During our visit to the small workshop on the outskirts of Ubud, we are warmly welcomed by Nyoman and his wife Ketut – two experienced craftsmen who create unique lamps from palm leaves with great passion.
Nyoman shows us how carefully each leaf is selected, dried, and shaped. No piece is the same as another, as each palm leaf tells its own story through its unique surface.
The family-run business may be small, but with great dedication, they create luminous works of art. As the sun slowly sets and the warm glow of their lamps fills the room, we enjoy a cup of tea with the two of them. Thus, every stay in Bali becomes a little brighter – not only through the light but also through the encounter with these special people.
