Tiga Bowls: Three-Piece Glass Bowl Set on Natural Root Wood, 60 cm
Our Tiga Bowls combine molten glass with natural root wood to create an extraordinary work of art. The Indonesian term Tiga means "three" and describes the three elegantly shaped glass bowls that harmoniously integrate into the organically grown wood. They resemble shimmering water droplets gently resting on the wood.
Balinese Glass Art – The Connection of Fire and Natural Wood
In Bali, craftsmanship always reflects a deep connection to nature. The fusion of glass on root wood is a special technique that impressively expresses this interplay.
For this elaborate processing, the glass is heated to high temperatures until it becomes liquid and luminous. The hot glass mass is then carefully applied to the root wood, where it follows the natural contours, settles into depressions, and envelops edges. After cooling, the glass is meticulously ground and polished, resulting in a crystal-clear, shiny finish. Each piece is thus a unique item with a distinctive character.
