Segar Fruit Bowl: Glass Meets Root Wood, Ø 13-15 cm
Our elegant Segar Fruit Bowl masterfully combines molten glass with a natural root – making the presentation of fruit a true highlight.
The glass, heated to a liquid form, flows like clear water into the natural depressions and contours of the wood. Segar, the Balinese word for "fresh", perfectly describes both the purpose and the vibrant aura of this material. The hot glass mass takes on the individual shape of the root as it cools, making each bowl a unique piece – just like your personal style.
With a generous diameter of about 13 to 15 cm, the bowl is perfect for crisp fruit, small snacks, or as a decorative focal point in your home. The glass surface is removable and easy to clean – keeping the bowl hygienic and user-friendly.
Balinese Craftsmanship: Glass and Wood in Perfect Symbiosis
In Bali, traditional craftsmanship is closely linked to nature. The fusion of glass and root wood is an impressive example of this harmonious connection.
With much experience and sensitivity, the glass is heated to about 1,400 °C until it is liquid. The glowing glass mass is then carefully poured onto the root, where it integrates into the natural structures and slowly hardens. After cooling, the glass is ground and polished, resulting in a crystal-clear and smooth finish. Thus, each time a unique work of art is created.

Dealer Note
Manik Rupa – A special store with a moving history: The owner, now around 70 years old, preserves traditional glass art almost single-handedly. Unfortunately, he lacks a successor, putting the future of this art at risk.
His works, including numerous vessels and spheres made of glass, artfully melted onto sometimes large roots, fascinate through the combination of root wood and glass. We greatly appreciate this selection and hope that this craftsmanship remains preserved for a long time.
Handmade and Individuality
Each Segar Fruit Bowl is a true one-of-a-kind. The natural materials and traditional glass melting technique create small differences in shape and structure – an authentic reflection of Balinese culture.
