Segar Large Fruit Bowl: Glass on Natural Root Wood, Ø 40 cm
Our Segar Large Fruit Bowl is a fascinating interplay of molten glass and natural root wood – a perfect vessel for stylishly presenting fruit or small treasures.
The liquid glass flows at high temperatures into the organic shapes of the root, firmly and harmoniously bonding with the wood and solidifying into a unique work of art. The name Segar comes from Bali and means "fresh" – an apt description for this combination of vibrant nature and artistic craftsmanship. Each bowl is unique, as the glass adapts individually to the wood structure.
With a generous diameter of 40 cm, the fruit bowl is not only practical for fresh fruit or snacks but also a real eye-catcher in the kitchen, dining room, or on the terrace. The glass bowl is removable and easy to clean, making maintenance effortless.
The Balinese Art of Glass Melting – Wood Meets Fire
In Bali, craftsmanship is deeply connected to nature. The fusion of glass and root wood is a technique that impressively expresses this harmony.
The glass is heated to high temperatures until it is almost liquid. The glowing glass mass is then carefully poured onto the root, where it follows the natural contours, fills in recesses, and encloses edges. As the glass cools and solidifies, it takes on the individual shape of the wood. Finally, the surface is ground and polished to ensure the glass appears clear and radiant. This results in a unique work of art that is one-of-a-kind in its form and structure.
