Naga Raja Cobra – Majestic Guardian Spirit made of Suar Wood
The Naga Raja Cobra has been carefully hand-carved from solid Suar wood and perfectly captures the impressive aura of the King Cobra. The term "Naga Raja" means "King of Snakes" and refers to the significant role of this creature in Southeast Asian mythology. In its characteristic upright posture with a spread hood, the sculpture appears vigilant and radiates a quiet authority.
The detailed design of the scales and the lifelike shaping testify to the high craftsmanship of Balinese woodcarvers. The figure is available in two sizes (approx. 30 cm and approx. 40 cm) and makes a fascinating accent in any room as a powerful symbol.
Symbolism of the Naga Raja – Spiritual Meaning of the King Cobra
In Balinese culture as well as in other Southeast Asian traditions, Nagas, often depicted as powerful cobras, are considered sacred guardians. They protect temples and thresholds, preserve knowledge and spiritual treasures, and represent transformation, renewal, and cosmic energy. The Naga Raja Cobra embodies these qualities in their most impressive form.
The upright pose with the spread hood symbolizes both readiness to defend and attentiveness and concentration. As a protective figure, it can ward off negative energies while also reminding one of inner strength and wisdom. The warm, natural Suar wood from which each Naga Raja Cobra is individually crafted emphasizes the natural elegance and power of the sculpture.

Dealer Note
Serayu Craft offers a very special shopping experience: two neighboring stores that could hardly be more different. Located directly across from the duck center, where numerous wooden items are crafted daily.
In the first store, run by a rather reserved owner, you will find a large selection of wooden figures – from monkeys to hippos and cobras to Buddhas.
The second store impresses with its friendly owner, who speaks little English but has a knack for bargaining. Here you can find extraordinary glass tables with elephant or octopus feet. Note that the store is often closed during lunch.
Handmade Note
Each Naga Raja Cobra is created through elaborate handwork. Each individual scale and contour is the result of patient, masterful work by Balinese artisans. These works reflect the deep connection between humans, nature, and spirituality.
