Lembut Buddha Shoulder made of Albesia Wood, Whitewashed, 40 cm
The Lembut Buddha Shoulder impresses with its compact size and expressive appearance. Hand-carved from lightweight Albesia wood and finished with a subtle white-wash, the 40 cm tall sculpture reflects the calm and depth of large Buddha figures – while remaining light and homely, ideal for many interior styles. The fine details such as the forehead decoration, gently modeled eyes, and delicate jewelry give the figure dignity and presence without being intrusive.
The name Lembut means in Indonesian "tender, soft, gentle" – a perfect description for this sculpture. From the harmoniously curved forehead to the serene facial features, the Buddha Shoulder radiates a quiet serenity. The light wood, matte surface, and carefully crafted details create a timeless image of harmony. Whether placed on a shelf, a dresser, or among houseplants – this figure looks impressive even without a pedestal.
Albesia Wood – Lightweight, Sustainable, and Detailed
Albesia wood is a fast-growing, eco-friendly material traditionally used in Bali for intricate carvings. Despite its light weight, it can be finely worked, making it particularly ideal for soft shapes like the Lembut Buddha Shoulder. The production involves several steps: first, the wood is roughly cut, then refined by hand in a time-consuming process, and finally treated with white lime paint. This white-wash process highlights the grain and emphasizes the fine carving details – resulting in a characterful unique piece with an individual surface.
