Japa Bowl with Buddha Figure for Incense Sticks made of Hand-painted Epoxy Resin, approx. 26 × 8 cm
Silence Cast in Form – the Japa Incense Holder combines meditative radiance with artistic symbolism. It is cast from fine epoxy resin – a material that reliably preserves fine details. After casting, each artwork is individually refined and painted by hand. This results in slight differences, small peculiarities – exactly those irregularities that give life and character. The colors are then sealed, giving the surface a soft matte shine.
The elongated base is adorned with floral ornaments, whose lines resemble temple reliefs. A seated Buddha figure holds – in deep meditation – the burning stick before him. The wisps of smoke carry away thoughts and worries, leaving behind calm and inner silence. A small ritual object – but with great effect.
The name Japa comes from Sanskrit and means the quiet, repeated recitation of a mantra. Like a fragrance that slowly spreads in the room, Japa represents mindfulness in the small things – for those moments when repetition becomes devotion. The holder invites you to find your center, clear the space, and consciously celebrate rituals – whether in the morning, during meditation, or simply in between.
The Japa Incense Holder is available in two color variants: a warm brown or a light sandy brown, each with a subtle patina. Both tones emphasize the calm, lived radiance of this small but meaningful object.
The Hands of Silence
In Bali, craftsmanship is not just a profession – it is a calling. Often, several generations of a family sit together to create figures, ornaments, and functional objects with hours of patience. The hands do not speak, but they tell: of patience, of devotion, of a rhythm that has more to do with inner time than with efficiency. Especially in figurative works – whether from wood, stone, or resin – every gesture is deliberate. A tilted head, a closed eye, a slightly open hand: everything has meaning.
And while outside mopeds roar and roosters crow, it is often quiet inside – except for the fine scratching of tools. Perhaps it is this silence that is reflected in the objects. A silence that is not empty but leaves room for everything that may be.

Dealer Note
Luruh Kayu
There are places that sound quieter than others. The small stand of
Luruh Kayu is such a place. Between shelves full of hand-carved incense holders and bowls made of coconut and Diepholz, the breath of something past wafts. Dust lies on some things, others still shine. Everything bears traces of time.
The owner – a friendly, somewhat quiet man – told us that his son will probably not continue the business. In a year or two, it will probably be over. Perhaps that is why we particularly enjoyed browsing here. Not for bargains, but for memories. What we took with us were not just incense holders, but a piece of history. And the quiet promise that something beautiful does not simply disappear.
Handmade Note
Each incense holder is lovingly hand-cast, reworked, and painted. Small variations in color application and detail structure are expressions of true craftsmanship – no piece is the same as another.
