The Valuable Rattan – Pure Nature from Indonesia

In the dense tropical forests of Bali, rattan vines grow, which can only be harvested with much skill and experience. The collectors carefully select only the ripe rattan pieces to preserve the forest. After harvesting, the rattan is traditionally dried over an open fire and then soaked in water to make it flexible. Only then do the experienced weavers begin to process the robust rattan strands into artistic patterns that give this chair its characteristic appearance and durability.
