Gajah Tiga Glass Table with Three Hand-Carved Elephants Made of Suar Wood, Ø 70 cm
Imagine three
masterfully carved elephant heads made of Suar wood carrying a round glass top, while their trunks elegantly serve as table legs, seemingly presenting the top with ease. The
Gajah Tiga Glass Table combines artistic craftsmanship, natural materials, and symbolic meaning in a unique piece of furniture. Its name consists of “Gajah” (elephant) and “Tiga” (three) – a direct tribute to the three
expressive elephant heads that give this table its distinctive base. With a diameter of about 70 cm and a height of approximately 50 cm, it fits perfectly into many living areas.
Each elephant has been carved with great care – from the textured surface of the powerful trunks that serve as table legs, to the finely modeled ears, and the
separately crafted and precisely fitted tusks made of Suar wood. These create a beautiful contrast to the lighter wood tone of the heads, highlighted by subtle white accents. The three figures radiate calm and wisdom, seemingly carrying the glass top effortlessly, thus creating a harmonious connection of
stable robustness and transparent lightness. More than just a table – a work of art that tells stories of distant cultures and spreads an atmosphere of strength, luck, and serenity.
Gajah – A Symbol of Strength, Wisdom, and Luck
In many Asian countries, especially in Bali and Indonesia, the elephant – “Gajah” – is considered a sacred symbol of
wisdom, strength, patience, and luck. Elephants impress with their intelligence and pronounced social behavior. In Hindu mythology, the elephant-headed god Ganesha represents the removal of obstacles and is the patron of knowledge and learning.
Although the figures of this table do not directly represent Ganesha, they carry the essence of this reverence within them. Three elephants carrying a burden together also symbolize
community, stability, and cooperation. Being surrounded by the strength of the elephant is considered a bringer of luck and promotes positive developments. Thus, this table serves daily as a reminder of these strong values and the rich cultural significance of the elephant.
