Dua Twin Bowls: Double Glass Bowls on Natural Root Wood, 37 cm
The Dua Twin Bowls merge fluidly melted glass with unadulterated root wood into a fascinating work of art. Dua means "two" in Indonesian and describes the two delicate glass bowls that harmoniously nestle into the natural shape of the wood. They resemble sparkling water droplets gently resting on the wood.
Balinese Craftsmanship – When Glass and Wood Become One
The artistic fusion of glass and root wood is a traditional technique in Bali that combines a connection to nature with masterful skill. The glass is heated to high temperatures until it is liquid and luminous. The hot glass mass is then carefully applied to the wood, where it adapts to the natural contours, fills recesses, and encloses edges before hardening. After cooling, the glass is ground and polished, resulting in each bowl shining clear and bright. This creates a distinctive one-of-a-kind piece that remains unique in form and structure.

Dealer Note
Manik Rupa – A special place with a moving history. The owner, an experienced glass artist around 70, preserves the Balinese glass art tradition independently. As there are few successors, his work is all the more valuable and unique. His glass artworks, combined with impressive root wood pieces, are extraordinary and continually inspire us at Bali Dreams Selection. We hope this art remains preserved for a long time.
