Banyu Giri Carafe: Mouth-blown recycled glass on natural wood – 33 cm height
A harmonious interplay of glass and wood, inspired by Balinese craftsmanship tradition
The Banyu Giri Carafe combines traditional Balinese glassblowing art with a modern, natural look. "Banyu" means water and is reflected in the gently curved shape of the glass, which mimics flowing lines and fits elegantly into any environment. The sturdy wooden base ensures a secure stand and gives the carafe a warm, organic aura.
On a trip to Ubud, I came across these special carafes in a small workshop, where the combination of heat, craftsmanship, and nature creates an almost meditative atmosphere – this mood is present in each individual piece.
Glassblowing technique: Craftsmanship with soul
Each carafe is individually mouth-blown from glowing recycled glass and placed hot onto the wooden base. The glass adapts to the hollow of the base, cools there, and permanently bonds with the wood. Characteristic details such as small air bubbles, delicate turquoise shades, and slight irregularities make each carafe a unique piece and testify to traditional craftsmanship.
The base is made of natural wood, whose distinctive grain makes each piece special and unique.
